At the end of 2020, despite the coronavirus pandemic, bilateral trade between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan increased by 12% compared to the previous year. For ten months of this year, trade between the countries increased by 41% compared to the same period last year, Uzbek Ambassador to Azerbaijan Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov said in his video message at the webinar “25 years of relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan: achievements and prospects,” organized by the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), Report informs.
“The date of October 2, 1995 became a historical one, which laid solid and indestructible foundations of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. During this period, more than 130 agreements were signed, of which the main one is the agreement on friendship and cooperation of 1996. This number of agreements is not the limit of our opportunities and desires, Azerbaijan, like Uzbekistan, is determined to expand the legal framework. I am sure that this will happen during the state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan, within which a package of documents with more than 20 bilateral documents and agreements is ready,” the ambassador said.
The ambassador noted that the last five years of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have become the most active and fruitful in all spheres.
