"Issues that concern Azerbaijani language secondary schools in Georgia can be divided into two groups. The first includes infrastructure issues, a shortage of teachers, and problems with textbooks that any school may face. The other group includes such specific problems as teacher training, advanced training, shortcomings in the translation of textbooks into Azerbaijani," according to Report's Georgian bureau, Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev said this at a meeting with teachers from 13 schools, held at Azerbaijani language school No. 3 in Gardabani.
He noted that the solution of all problems is possible and takes time: "In the course of discussions with Georgian colleagues, certain preliminary agreements were reached on training teachers, providing Azerbaijani schools with methodological aids and art books in Azerbaijani language."
Emin Amrullayev noted that during the visit there was an opportunity to get acquainted with some textbooks published in Georgia in the Azerbaijani language, and they need to be improved in terms of style.
The minister stressed that successful programs are being implemented to integrate Azerbaijanis into Georgian society, and our compatriots living in this country have excellent conditions for preserving their culture.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev, who participated in the meeting, noted that the agreement signed between the two countries in the field of education will help increase the efficiency of cooperation. The ambassador noted that the Azerbaijani state always provides support to our compatriots in Georgia in the educational and humanitarian spheres, as evidenced by the overhaul of schools by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, funding the education of Azerbaijani students at the expense of SOCAR.
First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Makharashvili, in turn, said that for both countries it is a priority to increase the level of cooperation in the educational sphere.
