Embassy: Germany welcomes all actions contributing to Baku-Yerevan peace process

The German Embassy in Azerbaijan welcomes all actions that contribute to the further peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Report informs referring to the German diplomatic mission that commented on Azerbaijan’s humanistic decision to stop criminal prosecution against the Armenian football players detained at the Lachin checkpoint.

“We follow the developments between Azerbaijan and Armenia closely and welcome all actions that de-escalate and help to further the peace process,” the embassy noted.

On August 28, Armenian football players were arrested at the Lachin border checkpoint in connection with committing offensive actions against the State Flag of Azerbaijan. However, later Azerbaijan stopped this criminal prosecution in an act of humanism

The athletes were put under administrative arrest for a period of 10 days. After the execution of the court decision, the deportation of these persons from Azerbaijan will be ensured.
