Baku. 23 August. REPORT.AZ/ Azerbaijan and Russia take joint measures on the fight against all manifestations of religious extremism.
Report informs, reads the letter of Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloghlu sent to the Russian Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper regarding the article entitled The West has expressed a vote of no confidence to Azerbaijan’s fight against IS.
“I should mention with sadness that the article is of biased nature and does not have anything common with the interests of strengthening the atmosphere of trust and stability between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan, jointly taken measures on the fight against all manifestations of religious extremism in both countries,” the letter of the Azerbaijani diplomat reads.
According to the Ambassador, the publication of such a material in “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” brings us to the idea that the author of the article demonstrates solidarity with forces carrying out propaganda against Azerbaijan. In regard to this, the Ambassador addresses the administration of the newspaper about urgently considering the issue of granting the Azerbaijani side the right to express its own stance in the upcoming editions of the newspaper.
In turn, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia highlighted in its statement that Azerbaijan and Russia actively cooperate in the fight against religious extremism and terrorism. The Embassy said that official Baku consistently fights against religious extremism, and the proof of this is the improvement of the legislative base regulating efficient fight in this direction.
“Azerbaijan supports any initiatives on the fight against international terrorism in all international platforms. A quite efficient system of cooperation with Russian partners in a bilateral and multilateral format has been established. Within the framework of this cooperation, constant exchange of updated information about terrorist threats and people involved in them is carried out. Azerbaijan constantly informs partners, especially from neighboring countries, with the aim to prevent the transition of radical elements to the zones of military actions. It has always been highly appreciated at an international level,” the statement says.
