Elchin Amirbayov: Azerbaijan and Armenia should immediately restart negotiations on peace agreement

Azerbaijan and Armenia should immediately restart negotiations on the peace agreement, Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Special Assignments, Elchin Amirbayov, said while answering the questions of Michael Doran, a senior fellow and director of the Center for Peace and Security in the Middle East at Hudson Institute, and Luke Coffey, a senior fellow at Hudson Institute, Report informs.

“We should resume discussions on the delimitation of the border, and of course, we have to go back to discuss the reopening of the communication links. These are the three main tracks of the peace process, which have much brighter prospects,” Amirbayov said.

According to him, the elimination of the illegal regime in Karabakh has removed the main obstacle to peace in the region.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan also eliminated another obstacle: the illegal military presence of the Armenian armed forces on its sovereign territory.

The Representative of the President noted that Azerbaijan conducts an active dialogue with the Armenian residents of the Karabakh region, and the reintegration plans cover various areas in which the Armenian residents of Karabakh can exercise their social, economic, political, cultural, and religious rights.
