Egils Levits: Latvia is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan on the reform of the UN

Latvia is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan on reforming the UN, President of Latvia Egils Levits said Thursday in a meeting with students at ADA University, Report informs.

He spoke to the Azerbaijani students about the prospects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries and cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union: "EU is interested in closer relations with Azerbaijan. After the EU stopped importing natural gas from Russia, Azerbaijan became an energy corridor to Europe."

Levits noted that Latvia adheres to the principles of international law and prioritizes territorial integrity: "Latvia's position is to prioritize the territorial integrity of countries, including Azerbaijan. It is the only way to achieve peace, taking into account the principles of international law."

"The Non-Aligned Movement, currently chaired by Azerbaijan, is an important platform. Latvia does not pursue an aggressive policy and does not use double standards. Latvia, like Azerbaijan, is a supporter of multilateralism," the Latvian President said.
