ECO Secretary General: First women's forum organized after 40 years with Ilham Aliyev's initiative

For the first time in 40 years, a women's forum has been organized thanks to the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Asad Majeed Khan, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) told journalists during the sixth ECO business forum held in Lachin, Report informs.

"I must thank the Azerbaijani government and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs for organizing this first women's forum in the beautiful city of Lachin. Frankly, it took us about 40 years to hold such a forum. Therefore, I am especially grateful to the Azerbaijani leadership and President Ilham Aliyev for his far-sighted initiative," Majeed Khan underscored

The secretary general also pointed out that he is pleased to see leaders and representatives from all over the ECO region at the forum, where they are discussing together how women can more effectively and actively contribute to the organization's activities and to achieving the goals of sustainable development, prosperity, and progress in the region.
