The historical, cultural, and religious commonalities between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, as well as the traditional friendship and brotherly relations spanning centuries, form the basis of the relations between the two countries, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov told an event held in Baku on the occasion of Kazakhstan's Republic Day, Report informs.
Mammadov noted that active political ideas based on mutual respect and trust established at the highest level acted as the main factor encouraging the achievement of serious accomplishments that determine close cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan in all areas:
"Today, Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan relations, which have taken on new content, are characterized by strategic partnership and alliance. The agreement on strategic partnership and alliance relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the declaration on strengthening strategic relations and deepening mutual cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Kazakhstan form the basis of our relations."
