Chinese official: Beijing will continue to develop cooperation with Baku

The One Belt, One Road initiative is very important, the special representative of the Chinese government for European Affairs, Wu Hongbo told journalists, according to Report.

He stated that the role of this initiative is growing and covers about 100 countries. "Many countries benefit from this project, and this contributes to the expansion of cooperation and economic ties with China. China also benefits from this initiative," the special representative said.

"Both China and Azerbaijan have an ancient history, we were connected by the Great Silk Road in the past," Wu Hongbo said.

He recalled that this year Azerbaijan and China are celebrating the 31st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. "We are developing cooperation in the economic sphere," the special representative of the Chinese government said, also noting the active political dialogue between the leaders of the two countries.

According to him, Azerbaijan has an important geostrategic location: "Over the past few months, we have seen an increase in freight traffic from China to European countries. We see good opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, companies and entrepreneurs to work together to develop infrastructure, including road construction."
