The problem of demining the liberated territories of Azerbaijan was brought up to the agenda at the meeting, and it was noted that the EU is ready to provide technical assistance to Azerbaijan in this direction.
The President of the EU Council called for the elimination of the conflict legacy between Armenia and Azerbaijan. As Azerbaijan says, the conflict is a thing of the past, and we need to look to the future. Another critical point in the statement is that the issue of missing persons has been included in the EU agenda for the first time, and the need to clarify their fate has been highlighted. It is essential because there is no information about 4,000 missing Azerbaijani people during the First Karabakh War.
According to the statement, the EU will continue to support humanitarian de-mining efforts, which including by providing expert advice, and assistance to conflict-affected populations, rehabilitation and reconstruction.
The EU also expressed support for the demarcation and delimitation of borders in a consultative capacity. The statement also said the EU's support for economic collaboration in the South Caucasus region and proposed the establishment of a joint economic cooperation platform.
Charles Michel noted the EU's support for creating communication infrastructure in the region and opening and growing lines that ensure reconciliation between countries.
