“We support the efforts of both the United States and the European Union for a peace treaty to be signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Ambassador of the UK to Azerbaijan, Fergus Auld, told BBC Azerbaijan, Report informs.
According to him, the intensity of negotiations between the parties has increased: “It is important to maintain trust in such negotiations. There is progress toward making decisions on specific issues that need to be agreed upon. We strongly support mediation efforts.”
The ambassador said that efforts should be made for many years to make peace sustainable: “As the UK, we are making efforts, and the demining of occupied territories continues.”
