The US supports the principle of territorial integrity for all countries, but not when it concerns Azerbaijan, Brenda Shaffer, a professor at the Naval Postgraduate School (US) and a member of the American Political Science Association, wrote on X (formerly Twitter), Report informs.
“Could you imagine US State Secretary Blinken calling up Ukraine and asking Kiev not to conduct military operations against terrorists operating from Crimea or Donetsk? The US upholds the principle of territorial integrity, except in the case of Azerbaijan,” she wrote.
She noted that when Ukraine and Georgia are fighting for the withdrawal of Russian troops from their territory, the media reaction is positive.
“Ukraine fights to expel Russian troops from its territory = Slava Ukraini, Georgia fights to expel Russian troops from its territory = Go Georgia. Azerbaijan fights to expel 10,000 of Armenia’s (Russia’s ally) troops from its territory that are placing mines on Azerbaijan's roads = need to stop Azerbaijan!” writes Shaffer in another post, showing how similar events cause exactly the opposite reaction depending on the participants.
