Blinken's aide says Azerbaijan and Armenia skilled enough in direct negotiations

The United States is encouraging Azerbaijan and Armenia to finalize a peace agreement in the coming weeks and months, James O'Brien, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's aide, said during his visit to Yerevan, according to Report.

In an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, O'Brien stated that Washington supports the legitimate desire of the peoples in the region to conclude a long-term peace treaty.

He said it is the parties who decide what role the United States would or would not play.

O'Brien added that the United States does not claim to be a superpower in the region but is simply there to support the legitimate desire of the peoples in the region to conclude a long-term peace agreement.

The senior diplomat emphasized that at the current stage, the parties are skilled enough in direct negotiations with each other.
