BIG submits report on France's colonial policy to UN Human Rights Committee

The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) has submitted an alternative report to the UN Human Rights Committee, unveiling France's colonial policies and their impact on the situations in New Caledonia and French Polynesia, Report informs.

The report, titled "The Legacy of French Colonialism Continues to Significantly Hinder the Exercise of Self-Determination Rights in New Caledonia and French Polynesia," has been published on the official website of the UN Human Rights Committee.

The 142nd session of the UN Human Rights Committee, scheduled from October 14 to November 8, 2024, will review country reports from Ecuador, France, Greece, Iceland, Pakistan, and Türkiye on their implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

Established during Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Baku Initiative Group has been at the forefront of the fight against colonialism, consistently supporting nations in their struggle for independence.
