Azerbaijan and Pakistan have the potential to enhance their collaboration in the defense industry, particularly given Azerbaijan’s goal of modernizing its military equipment, political analyst Basim Reza, who commented on the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, told Report.
According to Reza, Baku and Islamabad share a strategic partnership, based on common geopolitical interests and mutual trust.
“High-level visits reflect the growing dynamic of bilateral relations. Additionally, both countries actively support each other on key international issues, especially at multilateral forums such as the UN and the OIC,” Reza noted.
He highlighted several key factors contributing to the deepening of Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations, including mutual support for each other’s territorial integrity, as well as cooperation in economic, energy, and defense sectors.
“Pakistan and Azerbaijan have strong defense ties, which are expected to continue expanding. Azerbaijan's interest in acquiring modern military technology and Pakistan’s robust defense industry create a fertile ground for further cooperation,” he said.
The political analyst believes that expanding such cooperation is possible, given Azerbaijan's ongoing military modernization and Pakistan’s developed defense-industrial potential.
Reza also mentioned that he expects an increase in overall trade between Baku and Islamabad. He views the energy sector as a key area of cooperation.
“Projects related to infrastructure and communication development open additional opportunities for joint investments, especially in transportation and logistics to expand regional trade routes,” Reza highlighted. He also pointed out the role of cooperation in agriculture and mining.
In conclusion, Reza emphasized that Azerbaijan and Pakistan's relations are deeply rooted in historical, cultural, and fraternal ties.
