Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have identified 20 new areas for cooperation, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in a joint press statement with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

According to Report, he noted that the first meeting of the High Intergovernmental Council was held, "which is an effective mechanism for developing and implementing new proposals to deepen our allied relations."

"At our first meeting in Azerbaijan, 10 areas of our cooperation were identified. I want to note with satisfaction that none of these agreements remained on paper. We have real results. Today we have identified 20 new directions," the Uzbek leader said.

He said that overall, the negotiations were held in a traditionally open and constructive atmosphere.

"I believe this is the key to the success of our meeting," he emphasized.
