Azerbaijani envoy speaks at symposium in Houston

Azerbaijani Ambassador to the US Khazar Ibrahim has delivered speech at a symposium in Houston, Texas dedicated to March 8 - International Women’s Day, Report informs referring to the Azerbaijani Embassy in the US.

In his speech, the diplomat touched upon the exclusive role of women in history and culture, since Azerbaijan was the first country in the East to grant women the right to vote in 1918.

He also stressed that on the initiative of the philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev, the first secular women’s school in the Muslim East began operating in Baku in 1901.
