A panel discussion on “Education for Peace: Building Bridges” has been held at the George Washington University.

According to Report’s US bureau, the event organized by the US-Azerbaijan Network of Academics (ANA) was moderated by University Professor James Williams.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to the US Khazar Ibrahim, Michael Doran, a senior fellow and director of the Center for Peace and Security in the Middle East at Hudson Institute, and President of the Global Peace for Human Security Council Vasif Eyvazzada took part in the discussions.

During the event, the importance of education in supporting peacekeeping initiatives, the best methods for developing and implementing peacebuilding initiatives were discussed.

Ambassador Ibrahim noted that Azerbaijan is at the center of all issues at the regional and global level and is therefore one of the main actors in international politics.

He stressed that the norms and principles of international law should be taken into account as the main criterion in the process of restoring peace, and that Azerbaijan always takes this position.

The ambassador noted that in order to achieve peace, the parties must be able to make independent decisions in foreign policy, and Azerbaijan can be an example in this matter.
