Azerbaijani citizen killed in earthquake in Turkiye

Assistance is being provided to Azerbaijani citizens affected by the devastating earthquake in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaras and adjacent provinces. Hundreds of appeals are received and considered by the hotlines of the operational headquarters established in the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the embassy and the consulate general in Turkiye, Report informs referring to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
“Based on the information received, a list of injured citizens is being compiled. In this regard, cooperation has been established with the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Health and Education of Turkiye, the Turkish Council of Higher Education and other government agencies.
At the same time, Azerbaijani citizens are being evacuated. A group of employees of the embassy and the office of the military attache at the embassy was sent to the earthquake zone to carry out the evacuation.
On February 7, 2023, 205 Azerbaijani citizens and their close relatives were evacuated from 12 provinces affected by the earthquake through Georgia by land. To date, the evacuation of a large number of the Azerbaijani citizens is also planned, in connection with which appropriate measures are being taken.
To date, we have received information about the death of one citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan - a resident of Baku Nailya Bunyadova, born in 1980. Currently, measures are being taken to deliver the body to Azerbaijan,” the Foreign Ministry said.
