Azerbaijani and Iranian foreign ministers discuss regional issues

Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov spoke with his Iranian counterpart Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Report informs.

During the telephone conversation, issues arising from Azerbaijani-Iranian bilateral and regional relations were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of political dialogue in the development of existing Azerbaijani-Iranian relations.

It was noted that the joint projects implemented between the two countries in the fields of energy, transport and investment are of strategic importance. In particular, it was noted that the transport corridors passing through the territory of Iran, as well as infrastructure projects connecting the western parts of Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, create new opportunities for the region.

The parties also hailed the role of the intergovernmental economic commission in developing trade and economic relations between the two countries.

During the telephone conversation, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
