Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the UN Tofig Musayev held a meeting with members of the Azerbaijani-American Youth Federation and students in celebration of Youth Day, observed on February 2, Report informs.
The event took place at the UN headquarters in New York and gathered more than 30 Azerbaijani students studying in the city. During the meeting, Musayev spoke about Azerbaijan's history of joining the UN, emphasizing that on March 2, 1992, at the 46th session of the General Assembly, a resolution was adopted admitting Azerbaijan to the organization.
On the same day, Azerbaijan's national flag was raised at the UN headquarters, and the country's Permanent Mission to the UN began operations on May 6. The diplomat noted that from the first days of membership, Azerbaijan actively used the UN platform to inform the international community about Armenia's military aggression and occupation policy, as well as to promote peaceful conflict resolution.
He provided detailed information about UN Security Council resolutions regarding the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. Additionally, the permanent representative informed the youth about Azerbaijan's interaction with various UN programs, the country's contribution to the organization's activities, and implemented initiatives. At the end of the meeting, Musayev answered students' questions.
The young people, in turn, shared their suggestions and opinions with the ambassador. After the event, participants were given a brief tour of the UN headquarters.
