Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with the Foreign Minister of Indonesia, Sugiono, within the framework of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Istanbul, Report informs, citing the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the current bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Indonesia and topical issues on the cooperation agenda were discussed, including opportunities for developing partnerships in political, economic, transport, and tourism sectors.
The parties also noted the importance of strengthening cooperation within the framework of the UN, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Non-Aligned Movement, D-8, and other international organizations, as well as joint activities in combating global challenges.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov shared Azerbaijan's position on the regional security situation and informed the counterpart about the existing difficulties in the normalization process with Armenia.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on the recent tensions in the Middle East, particularly the increasing risks in the region against the background of the Israel-Iran confrontation and their possible impacts. The Indonesian side expressed deep gratitude for the support provided by Azerbaijan in evacuating Indonesian citizens from Iran.
