Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has received the newly appointed ambassador of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to Azerbaijan, Zakia Ighil, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the development prospects of the current cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Algeria, as well as regional and global issues.
Minister Bayramov congratulated Ambassador Ighil on her appointment and wished him success in her diplomatic activities. He noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and highlighted the importance of mutual visits and intensive political dialogue in fostering cooperation.
They emphasized the potential for cooperation in various fields, including the economy, trade, energy security, and humanitarian efforts. The importance of political consultations to explore these possibilities was also highlighted.
The meeting underscored the need for continued mutual support and cooperation within regional and international organizations, particularly the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
Minister Bayramov provided detailed information about the current regional situation following the 44-day Patriotic War, the challenges of the post-conflict period, the extensive restoration and construction efforts in the liberated territories, and the normalization and peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The Azerbaijani side expressed gratitude to Algeria for its support of international law principles, especially regarding Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, during and after the conflict.
They also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
