Azerbaijan's Deputy FM meets with ASEAN Sec.-Gen.

During his visit to Indonesia, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov met with Secretary General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Dato Lim Jok Hoy at the organization's headquarters.

Report has learned from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan that during the meeting, Mammadov noted that Azerbaijan pays special attention to cooperation within the framework of international organizations. Recalling that Indonesia will chair ASEAN in 2023, the official expressed Azerbaijan's interest in expanding cooperation with ASEAN and taking practical steps in this direction.

Elnur Mammadov thanked the Secretary General of the organization for accepting the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan as an observer in the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

As part of the visit, the deputy foreign minister also met with the heads of various organizations and institutions.

Elnur Mammadov also gave an interview to the One to One program on CNN Indonesia and the Voice of Indonesia state radio. The interview focused on the achievements between the countries over the 30-year period of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the prospects for further development and strengthening of these relations, Azerbaijan's activities within its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement.
