Azerbaijan, Kenya mull bilateral cooperation

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Kenya's Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi within the framework of the High-Level Week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan told Report that during the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kenya, as well as issues of multilateral cooperation.

Bayramov expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two countries within international organizations, particularly the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement, and thanked his Kenyan counterpart for supporting Azerbaijan's initiatives during its chairmanship of the NAM.

The meeting also reviewed prospects for developing relations between the two countries in political, economic, and humanitarian spheres. It was noted that the commencement of the Azerbaijani embassy's activities in Kenya is an important contribution to the development of relations between the two countries.

Bayramov also touched upon the prospects for cooperation in the field of combating climate change, providing details about the preparation for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be held in Azerbaijan this year, and the prospects for cooperation in this direction.

The parties also discussed other regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Following this, a ceremony was held to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on conducting political consultations between Azerbaijan and Kenya.
