Ambassador: Azerbaijan has always supported the people of Afghanistan

In order to promote the peace process in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan has become a venue for a large number of meetings to prevent war in the country.

Report informs that the Ambassador of Afghanistan in Azerbaijan Khairullah Spelenai said at the official reception on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the independence of the country.

"Azerbaijan, as a brotherly country for Afghanistan, has always supported our people in all spheres of life. In order to promote the peace process in Afghanistan, it has become a venue for a large number of meetings to prevent war in the country," he said.

The Ambassador also noted that Azerbaijan and Afghanistan successfully cooperate both in politics and economy: "In the first half of this year, the trade turnover between our countries amounted to 56 million dollars."

Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan Ramin Guluzade also noted the high level of relations between the two countries.

"We have great potential for cooperation in the field of high technologies and other industries. Cargo transportation is also of particular importance. Our economic ties are developing at an increasing rate, " the Minister said.

He also stressed that Afghanistan has always supported the fair position of Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
