Azerbaijan, Georgia mull development of cooperation in religion

A delegation led by the Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Religious Institutions Ramin Mammadov met with Chairman of the Georgian State Agency for Religious Issues Zaza Vashakmadze on June 13 as part of a visit to Georgia, Report informs, citing the country’s Ministry of Agriculture.

The Azerbaijani state committee chairman highlighted the continuous development of strategic partnership relations between the two countries and in this context touched upon the prospects of deepening relations in the religious field as well.

Mammadov said that the discussions held within the mutual visits played an important role in the expansion of cooperation between their institutions.

Vashakmadze noted that the development of relations between religious communities is important in modern times. Speaking about Georgia's achievements in the field of religion, the chairman emphasized the support given by the state to the independent activity and development of the Muslim community. He said the exchange of knowledge with Azerbaijan in terms of legislative acts in the regulation of relations between the state and religion will be useful.

The parties discussed the development of existing relations and cooperation.
