Azerbaijan has accused Armenia of racial discrimination at the UN General Assembly, Report’s US bureau informs.
Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Yashar Aliyev, in his speech at the plenary session of the UN General Assembly dedicated to the Culture of Peace agenda, spoke about almost 30 years of Armenia’s occupation of Azerbaijani lands.
“For almost 30 years of conflict and occupation, the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan has been looted, destroyed and vandalized in the territories previously occupied by Armenia. The facts are truly shocking, and it is enough to mention a few of them.
Thus, out of 67 mosques and Islamic religious shrines, 64 were destroyed or significantly damaged and desecrated. They were deliberately used as pigsties and cowsheds.
Despite the end of the war in the autumn of 2020, Armenia clearly ignored the order of the International Court of Justice of December 7, 2021 to take all necessary measures to prevent incitement of racial hatred and discrimination against people of Azerbaijani origin, including by officials and state institutions,” Yashar Aliyev noted.
