The Coordinating Council of American Azerbaijanis has sent a letter to international organizations and members of the US House of Representatives protesting against Armenia’s unacceptable behavior regarding minefield maps,
“Armenia's refusal to provide information on mined areas impedes large-scale restoration and reconstruction work in these areas. Today, civilians and military personnel are dying and losing their health because of the mines planted by Armenia in the Azerbaijani territories,” the letter reads.
A trilateral statement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia on November 10, 2020, aimed at ensuring lasting peace in the region, has put an end to all hostilities between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The time has come to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all in the liberated lands. But, about a million internally displaced persons are still unable to return to their homes due to mines. Although the parties agreed to resolve all issues at the negotiating table, Armenia does not provide maps of mined areas in the liberated lands of Azerbaijan.
The letter was also sent to the UN, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.
