EU official expresses concern about violence against Azerbaijanis in Russia

The head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Baku, Ambassador Peter Michalko, has expressed deep concern about the violence, torture, and inhumane treatment against ethnic Azerbaijanis by Russian security forces, Report informs.
"I am deeply concerned by the reports of violence, torture and inhuman treatment against ethnic Azerbaijanis in Russia, leading even to deaths, committed by Russian security forces. My thoughts are with the victims and their families," Michalko said in a post on X.
On the morning of June 27, the Russian Federal Security Service raided apartments where Azerbaijanis lived in Yekaterinburg. During the raid, 2 Azerbaijanis were killed, and several people were detained. The killed Azerbaijanis are brothers of well-known Azerbaijan journalist Seyfaddin Huseynli.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry of Azerbaijan also issued a statement on June 28 regarding the attacks by Russia's FSB on Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg.
Russia's chargé d'affaires was summoned to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry regarding the incident, and a strong protest was expressed.
