UEFA urges associations not to “abandon” their seasons over coronavirus

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) said that any decision to abandon domestic competitions is, at this stage, premature and not justified. The organization urged the Premier League and other European leagues not to “abandon” their seasons, Report says, citing the Sky Sports channel.

Earlier, the organization suspended the European Cup draw and postponed friendly matches of national teams for the summer against the background of the coronavirus pandemic. The timing of the European championship, which will now take place in the summer of 2021, has also changed. Moreover, UEFA recommended that the national Championships be completed by June 30.

According to the source, UEFA, the European Club Association [ECA] and European Leagues [EL] have written to all 55 member associations, including clubs and leagues. The organization advised not to cancel the current draws of the Championships and expressed hope that football will resume soon.
