UEFA eyes rejecting Russia’s bid to host Euro 2028

UEFA chiefs will hold crisis talks before attempting to dismiss the Russian Football Union's "laughable" application to rival the UK and Ireland's bid to stage Euro 2028, Report informs referring to The Telegraph.

The governing body faced immediate pressure to harden its stance after Russia defied public opinion aghast at the invasion of Ukraine by tabling a shock offer to host in 2028 or 2032.

Insiders say moves to turn down the bid are already in play as it remained "unthinkable" that Russia could still be in contention when the host for 2028 and 2032 is confirmed later in the spring.
