Report informs citing foreign media, FIFA official arrested in Switzerland has been extradited to the United States as part of a corruption investigation into the international football governing body.

The Swiss Federal Office of Justice did not name the official in its brief statement announcing the extradition.

A source said that, Jeffrey Webb, a former vice-president of FIFA and ex-president of the Concacaf regional soccer federation, had agreed to be extradited to the US to face corruption charges. He was arrested in May by Swiss police at the request of the US Department of Justice.

“The first of the seven FIFA officials being held in custody in Switzerland was extradited to the US on 15 July,” the justice office said. “He was handed over to a three-man US police escort in Zurich who accompanied him on the flight to New York.”
