SOCAR and Fenerbahçe deny sponsorship claims

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has commented on media reports regarding the sponsorship to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe.

Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the SOCAR public relations and events department, told in his statement to Report that such claims are groundless.

“Such rumors are constantly observed in press. We do not have a sponsorship plan in this direction," he said.

Fenerbahçe also made statement on the Public Information Platform and denied this information: "Some websites and social media outlets spread information that the negotiations are underway regarding the sale of Fenerbahçe's name for 15 years by indicating company name and amount. We urge our investors not to believe such news that does not reflect the truth.”

Notably, Turkish media reported that SOCAR will sponsor Fenerbahçe for 450 million euros. It was also claimed that Red Bull had similar plans.
