Messi seeks compensation for eco-activists' paint attack on his Spanish villa

Argentine football star Lionel Messi, now playing for Inter Miami, is seeking €50,000 in damages from the organization Futuro Vegetal after eco-activists defaced his villa on the island of Ibiza with paint.

According to Report, in early August, members of the organization trespassed onto Messi's property and splashed black and red paint on the walls of the mansion. They also photographed themselves holding a homemade banner that read, "Help the planet - eat the rich, abolish the police."

The eco-activists justified their actions by claiming that the former owner of Messi's villa had constructed it illegally. Messi purchased the property in 2022.

Through his representative on the island, Messi filed a complaint seeking €50,000 in damages, which has been officially registered. Bilbo Bassaterra, the head of Futuro Vegetal, confirmed the complaint but argued that the compensation amount is unjustified.

Argentine President Javier Milei condemned the attack on Messi's home in Spain, calling it an act of cowardice and nonsense.
