Juan Cruz, a midfielder for Spanish club Leganes, is seeking paternity leave after the club refused to let him transfer to another team, Report informs, citing Marca.
The 25-year-old reportedly informed club management months ago of his desire to leave, due to limited playing time and the team’s relegation from La Liga. However, despite his ongoing contract with Leganes, no club has been willing to meet the €10 million release clause set by the team.
Unwilling to continue with Leganes, Cruz has told the club he expects to become a father soon and intends to take paternity leave—an unprecedented move in Spanish football, according to the source.
Cruz has scored 12 goals in 55 appearances for Leganes.
