Azerbaijan may apply VAR in spring

Azerbaijani football may apply the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in late March - early April, according to AFFA Referees Committee Chairman Fritz Stuchlik.

Report quotes him as saying the work is underway to import chips.

Stuchlik said the chip supply process was suspended for reasons beyond their control. He added that while earlier they expected the chips to be delivered in mid-December 2020, now the supplies are expected on February 20.

According to him, if everything goes according to plan, Azerbaijan will apply the VAR system in late February - early March, with the Baku Olympic Stadium chosen as the hub.

VAR will be applied in the arenas hosting the matches of eight Premier League clubs, as well as the Republic Stadium named after Tofig Bahramov and Dalga Arena, all certified by FIFA.
