Turkish exports hit record highs in May

The monetary value of Turkish exports reached $19 billion in May 2022, up 15.2% from the same month last year, hitting the maximum in the history of Turkish exports in May, Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Mus said, Report informs via Anadolu.

The volume of foreign trade in May, according to Mus, increased by a total of 31.1% compared to last year, to $48.6 billion. Imports for the specified period amounted to $29.6 billion.

According to him, energy carriers occupied the main spot in imports in May, with a share of $6.9 billion.

Turkiye's exports reached $96.8 billion (excluding energy sources) in January-May, and the country's foreign trade amounted to $202.8 billion.

The ratio of exports to imports was 91.3%, again without taking into account the energy component, the minister stated.

Mus stressed that Turkiye is moving steadily towards its stated goal of $250 billion in exports in 2022.
