Russian CB: Some bank cards won’t work with ApplePay, GooglePay

Bank cards of VTB Group, Sovcombank, Novikombank, Promsvyazbank, Otkritie will not work with ApplePay, GooglePay services. But standard contact or contactless payment with these cards is available in full throughout Russia, Report informs with reference to the Central Bank of Russia.

The message says that customers of these sanctioned banks will not be able to pay with the cards of these banks abroad and use them to pay for services in online stores and service aggregators registered in countries that support sanctions.

The regulator also said that all client funds in foreign currency in these banks are also saved and can be issued in the account currency. "The Bank of Russia is ready to support banks with funds in rubles and foreign currency," the statement said.
