Russia’s QIWI to start cooperating with one of biggest banks in Azerbaijan

The Russian fintech company QIWI, which provides payment and financial services, will soon begin operations in Azerbaijan’s banking sector in partnership with one of the country’s biggest banks, Roman Cherkaev, head of financial services sales at QIWI, told Report.

He noted that the planned cooperation will significantly simplify payments for the Azerbaijani bank’s clients.

However, the deal is not completed yet, so the name of the bank is not disclosed.

“I believe that the banking market in your country will receive continuous and steady growth in terms of high-tech digital payment instruments,” he added.

Cherkaev also noted that thanks to the 5th International Banking Forum “Cashless Economy: Reliable, Safe & Sustainable”, new projects and contracts for them are planned.

“The forum turned out to be very productive. I managed to get acquainted with the key banks of Azerbaijan, discuss areas of cooperation and get an idea of ​​the country’s financial market. New projects and the conclusion of contracts are planned,” he said, adding that such meetings allow to openly discuss the challenges of digitalization of the banking market, outline steps to implement promising projects.
