Retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan up by nearly 4%

In January-April 2025, 18.4 billion manats ($10.82 billion) worth of goods were sold to consumers in the retail trade network of Azerbaijan, including 10.3 billion manats ($6.06 billion) worth of food products, beverages and tobacco products, and 8.1 billion manats ($4.76 billion) worth of non-food goods, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistical Committee.
Compared to the same period last year, retail trade turnover increased by 3.7% in real terms, including 1.6% for food products, beverages and tobacco products, and 6.4% for non-food goods.
Over the past four months, 51.2% of the money spent by buyers on goods purchased in retail chains was spent on food products, 4.9% on beverages and tobacco products, 13.3% on textile products, clothing and footwear, 6.3% on gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.3% on electrical goods and furniture, 2.5% on pharmaceutical products and medical supplies, 1.3% on computers, telecommunications equipment and printing products, and 16.25% on other non-food goods.
During the mentioned period, the value of goods sold by entities operating in the non-state sector increased by 3.7% in real terms compared to the same period of the previous year, accounting for 99.7% of the total retail trade turnover.
During the year, retail trade turnover increased by 8.6% in real terms for enterprises, 0.7% for individual entrepreneurs, and 3.4% for markets and fairs.
In this period, one person in the retail trade network purchased an average of 449.8 manats ($264.59) per month, including 252.4 manats ($148.47) of food products, beverages and tobacco products, and 197.4 manats ($116.12) of non-food goods.
