President's aide: Share of wages in Azerbaijan GDP exceeds 17%

“From 2018 through the first half of 2022, the share of wages in the gross domestic product (GDP) in Azerbaijan increased from 12.7% to 17.1%,” said Natig Amirov, assistant to the President - head of the Department of Economic Policy and Industrial Affairs of the Presidential Administration, Report informs.

According to Amirov, people benefit from the results of economic growth more and more:

“One of the main factors showing the social nature of the state of Azerbaijan is that the median wage increases faster than the average wage, and the minimum wage increases faster than the median wage. In 2018-2022, the average wage increased by 41%, the median wage by 86%, and the minimum wage by 2.3 times.

The main result is that the wages of the lower-income sections of the population grow at a higher rate. This means the reduction of poverty on the one hand, and the strengthening of the middle class on the other hand.”
