Istanbul Airport will invest 200 million euros in the construction of a 200-megawatt solar power plant this year, Ismail Hakki Polat, the Chief Planning Officer of iGA, the operator of Istanbul Airport, said at the 28th Annual General Meeting of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO), Report informs.
According to him, Istanbul Airport will be the first airport in the world to meet all electricity consumption with solar power.
He noted that sustainability is the main factor in the development of Istanbul airport: “Instead of an airport that consumes energy, we want to become an airport that produces it.”
