France advocates for increasing funding for affordable housing, Yves-Laurent Sapoval, France's Ministerial Delegate for Sustainable Cities, said at a panel discussion at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
"We need to significantly increase the share of official development assistance (ODA) allocated to housing. Currently, less than 1% of official development assistance (ODA) is allocated to this sector, which is completely insufficient.
We should increase the amount of ODA allocated to the housing sector," he stated, noting that without concerted action on financial institutions and governments, it will be impossible to change the current situation.
