Baku. 25 September. REPORT.AZ/ Europe, Russia and China set themselves on a collision course with US President Donald Trump late Monday by announcing plans to create new payment channels to facilitate business with Iran and circumvent US sanctions.
Report informs citing the Russian media that the EU's foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini made the announcement after a meeting with representatives from Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China and Iran - the remaining members of a 2015 deal to put curbs on Iran's nuclear programmes - on the sidelines of the General Assembly in New York.
These countries are of the opinion that Tehran fulfills the conditions of the "nuclear deal", the withdrawal of which was unilaterally declared by the United States.
The decision to move ahead with the channels meant the EU would set up a "legal entity to facilitate legitimate financial transactions with Iran", allowing them to trade in accordance with EU law, Mogherini said.
