In 2019, operations via national payment system increased by 41% in Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Elman Rustamov said at the meeting with entrepreneurs.
"These are sufficient dynamics, exceeding the economic growth in the country 20-fold. The sharp increase indicates that the steps to ensure transparency and CBA programs on payment systems are effective," he said.
Moreover, the share of cashless payments in operations carried out via cards increased from 8% to 20% during the past five years: "This is good growth, but we are not satisfied with it. We will take steps to increase the figure this year."
