Banking Ombudsman receives 5 applications in September
Report

Baku. 2 October. REPORT.AZ/ The Banking Ombudsman, established under the Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA), officially received 5 appeals during the first month (September) of its establishment.

The executive secretary of the Banking Ombusdman, Elchin Hasanov told Report.

"Two of the appeals were related with the controversial issue worth over 2,000 USD or 3,400 AZN (about 6,000 and 20,000 USD). Of course, the Bank Ombudsman cannot examine them. Relevant court proceeding is underway on one appeal. The other two were made without appealing to the bank. However, a citizen must first apply to the bank, if the appeal is not considered within 30 working days, then the citizen may appeal to Banking Ombudsman. That is, the bank should issue a letter of rejection. Thus, all the five appeals were refused to be investigated", he said.

According to E. Hasanov, the Banking Ombudsman is also contacted by phone and number of such people is too high: "Appeal via phone are the issues not related to us. For example, someone has a bad credit history and bank does not give credit, they appeal to the Banking Ombudsman. However, lending is the bank's internal business, and we cannot do that. There are also applicants for loan repayment. This issue does not concern the Banking Ombudsman either".
