Bank of England maintains interest rate at 5.25%

The Bank of England (BoE) has decided to keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 5.25% per annum, as revealed in a statement on its official website.

Report informs that experts widely anticipated this outcome, even though inflation had reached the desired level set by the central bank.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the BoE has now left the interest rate untouched for seven consecutive meetings, maintaining it at the highest level in 16 years.

Market participants expect the BoE to start lowering interest rates no earlier than November this year.
