Azerbaijan climbs 2 points in the Global Competitiveness Index

Baku. 27 September. REPORT.AZ/ Azerbaijan ranks 35th in the Global Competitiveness Index 2017-2018 by the World Economic Forum (WEF). 

Report informs, Azerbaijan's index was 4.7 points.

137 countries took part in the report and Switzerland ranked first with 5.9 points while Singapore is third with 5.7 points.

Notably, Azerbaijan is a leader among CIS countries in 2017-2018 report for its competitiveness. Russia ranks 38th, Kazakhstan 57th, Georgia 67th and Armenia 73rd. Turkey is in the 53rd place.

Among the most problematic factors for doing business in Azerbaijan are factors such as financing (16.5 points), foreign currency regulations (14.8 points), tax regulations (11.5 points) and inflation (10.4 points).

The positive factors include Crime and theft (3,9 points), Government instability/coups (2.6 points), Poor public health (2,5 points), Restrictive labor regulations (2,4 points), Policy instability (1.7 points), Insufficient capacity to innovate (0.3 points).
