Average monthly salary up by 12% in Azerbaijan

As of January 1, 2023, the number of hired workers in the country's economy reached 1,712,100 people (+33,000 people or 2%), 901,100 of which are employed in the public sector and 811,000 in the private sector, Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.

In January 2023, the average monthly nominal wage of employees in the country increased by 11.8% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 856.2 manats ($503.65).

Among the hired workers, 19.5% occupied positions in education, 18.8% in trade, repair of transport vehicles, 12.7% in the industrial sector, 8.3% in medical and social services provided to the population, 6.8% in construction, 6.5% in state management and defence; social security, 4.2% in transport and storage, 3.6% in agriculture, forestry, and fishery, 3.5% in professional, scientific, and technical activity, 2% in finance and insurance, and 14% - other economic spheres.
